Jan’s Paperbacks 12320 SW 1st St, Beaverton, OR 97005
Athletes At Every Size – Nobody is obligated to be an athlete (and running a marathon and having a Neflix marathon are morally equivalent activities,) but every body should be welcome. In this talk we’ll explore the barriers and BS that confront fat people in the fitness world, and we’ll discuss how fat people who are interested in movement/fitness/athletics can get involved and claim our space.
Notes: I’ll have books for sale, you are also welcome to bring things for me to sign!
Freeeeeee (Books and DVDs will be there for sale)
Talk + Body Love Yoga
The Gem 1110 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97232
The Positive Body. Real strategies for health, happiness and high self-esteem starting wherever you are right now Followed by a Q&A.
Body Love Yoga with certified large-body yoga teacher, size diversity advocate and all around amazing woman, Anna Chapman! She is the founder of Body Love Yoga and leads weekly classes from her studio in Portland, OR.
Notes: You are welcome to participate in just the talk, just the yoga, or both. Anna is a master at working with all bodies so even if yoga is new to you, or you’ve had bad experiences before, you can feel safe with her!
Dance Class + Q&A
SomaSpace 4050 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232
In this dance class for Every Body we’ll learn some fun choreography with options to make it work for everyone. We’ll start with a few steps and, before you know it, you’ll have learned a whole routine! While we’re at it, we’ll practice not caring about getting everything right, and moving our bodies just for the joy of it. Afterwards, we’ll do an AMA (Ask Me Anything) Q&A discussion.
Tickets are $12-$15 with 20% of the proceeds going to Disability Art and Culture Project
